Where do harmonics come from in airports

        The locomotives of the MRT system rely on AC to DC conversion for traction during operation, and many harmonics will appear during this period; the main harmonics generated are mainly 5th and 7th harmonics.

The pain points of harmonics in airports


         Many harmonic source loads of lighting systems in airports will generate many 3rd harmony. Since the vector angles of the 3rd harmonic currents are the same, the three-phase vector sum cannot be offset, and can only be superimposed on the neutral line, making the current on the neutral line more than twice that of the phase line, causing the neutral line to become seriously hot, and the outer protective rubber to age rapidly. In severe cases, there may even be fire hazards!

        At the same time, the harmonics generated by the harmonic source loads of the MRT system and the baggage system will cause electrical equipment to overheat, generate vibration and noise, and age the insulation, shorten the service life, and even cause failure or burnout.
